Craftsmanship and Preparation: The Raw Stage
The construction phase focused heavily on structural integrity and the natural “flow” of the timber. Using highgrade walnut planks, the grain was book-matched to create a seamless visual transition across the expansive surface. Before any oils or finishes were applied, the table underwent a rigorous pre-painting preparation process. This involved precision-cutting the signature curved corners and hand-sanding the surface through multiple grit levels to achieve a velvet-like texture. At this stage, the wood’s raw, pale chocolate hues and intricate swirling patterns were already evident, awaiting the final treatment to bring them to life.
